What is this Valentine's day?

Valentin from the liberty you may be familiar with the story behind valentine’s day. Valentine denied the emperor and he stood up for truth in for traditional marriage and he actually secretly married young men and woman, he would not deny his conscience and worship the pagan idols as the emperor was demanding saint valentine for stand up for his faith in Christ. 

He was arrested and he was dragged before the Roman court who condemned him to be beaten to death with clubs and have his head cut off on this very day February 14th in 269 AD as the story goes as he was awaiting execution, he prayed for the jailer sick daughter who miraculously recover and he wrote her a note and singed it from your Valentine a couple hundred years later in 496 AD the Pope designed February 14th as St. Valentine's Day

Of love and money: the business of Valentine's day 

Valentine's Day in the 19th century became an opportunity for love and consumption to form a perfect combination. The lovers celebrate their love, and the shops celebrated their sales of cards, flowers. sweets, etcetera. In another place are the dinners, go to hotels, plan small escapades. February 14 has become a key date as the Christmas, or rebates. Although the economy of the Ecuadorian is not the best at the moment, the binomial of the fall of prices and the already ingrained habit between the people of celebrating the love next to a present, will cause that the sales soar a year more. Another industry that makes its August on this date so signaled is the one that concerns contraceptive methods. According to a famous brand of condoms, sales of condoms during the month of February increased by around 20%.

There are several publications that say that if there is a month in which the pharmacological industry should be prepared and have a good stock of pregnancy tests, that is March. The increase in sexual relations, in many cases without protection, that occur during Valentine's Day seem to have direct consequences on the birth rate. Any delay in the arrival of menstruation after consummating a relationship without contraceptives in the first month after Valentine's Day blows up all the alarms.

Valentine's day and its social influence

Valentine's Day is a significant date. The flow of gifts and purchases in the commercial field make the date to milestone. This is combined with a school setting, where schools and lyceums open the space for joy, recreational and reciprocal events that favor learning and integration.  

Capitalist society imposes a way of loving that establishes a reciprocal relationship between love/consumption, love/money. A quantification of love according to "the more you spend the more love you feel". This money-love, social status-love nexus strengthens inequality, social discrimination and patriarchal masculinity.We are involved in a world in which social networks prevail, in which even a photo of a known or unknown person can become a threat. 

In some people the influence of social networks is felt more on Valentine's Day, since its use leads many couples to make comparisons. This sometimes becomes a good reason to end a relationship with weak bases. However, I clarify that the networks are not the culprits. Why? For the root lies in the dissatisfaction, which comes to be manifested in the expectations we had about our relationships.
